AssetPilot FAQ on pricing, permissions and limits

Find answers to common questions about AssetPilot for Jira, from pricing and permissions to migration and data deletion. Integration availability is covered separately from the core app.

How much does AssetPilot cost?

AssetPilot is free for Jira sites with up to 10 Jira users, with every feature. Above that, pricing is per Jira user, as shown on the Marketplace listing. There is one edition, and no features are gated behind a higher plan.

The listing URL is confirmed, but public listing visibility was unverified as of 2026-10-17.

Why am I billed for all Jira users when only my IT team uses the app?

Atlassian bills every Marketplace app on the user tier of the Jira product on your Jira site, rather than the number of people who open the app.

Will permissions, the audit log or export move to a paid tier?

No. Roles by Jira group, the audit log, CSV import and export, the JQL property, the issue panel, lifecycle configuration and custom fields stay in every edition.

Where is my data stored, and does it leave Atlassian?

App data is stored in Forge storage on Atlassian infrastructure, in your Jira site's region. AssetPilot inherits your data residency settings, declares no external hosts and runs no server of its own. See Data and privacy.

What happens to my data if I uninstall the app?

Forge soft-deletes the app's storage after uninstall and erases it within Atlassian's retention period for Forge hosted storage. Export your assets and audit log to CSV first.

The assetpilot issue property (asset ids and tags, no personal data) remains on Jira issues. See Data and privacy for removal instructions.

Which permissions does the app ask for, and why?

See Permissions. AssetPilot never edits issue fields, comments, workflows or projects.

How do I migrate from another asset tool or a spreadsheet?

Export assets to CSV, using one file per asset type where possible.

In AssetPilot, open Import, choose the asset type and download its template to check the expected columns. Upload your file, check the suggested mapping and review the validation preview for every row.

Choose Update existing to merge on tag or serial, or Skip to keep your current records.

Does AssetPilot work with Jira Software, or only Jira Service Management?

Both. The Assets panel appears on issues in Jira Software and JSM projects, including company-managed and team-managed projects. You do not need JSM or JSM Premium.

How is this different from Assets in Jira Service Management?

Assets in JSM is included in JSM Premium and Enterprise and uses object schemas.

AssetPilot is for teams on Jira Software or JSM Standard, or teams that want templates, check-out with due dates and the reporter's devices in the ticket without designing a schema. If native Assets already works for you, keep it.

Can I assign assets to people without a Jira account?

Yes. Add them under People with their name, email and department. You can then check assets out to them as you would to Jira users.

Is there Intune, Jamf or Kandji sync, or a REST API?

AssetPilot Connect is a separate, free app for device sync from Intune, Jamf Pro and Kandji, chat notifications, webhooks and an API-key gateway. It is pre-release and is not on Atlassian Marketplace yet.

Connect requires AssetPilot's app REST API, planned for version 0.2. That update is in Marketplace review, and the API is not in production.

How do I ask for a feature or report a bug?
