Set up your AssetPilot workspace
The first time an admin opens Apps → AssetPilot, a three-step setup creates asset types, fields, locations and a lifecycle for you. It takes about a minute.
Step 1: Choose a template
| Template | Asset types it creates |
|---|---|
| IT equipment | Laptop, Monitor, Phone, Peripheral, Licence |
| Office | Desk, Chair, Projector, Key card |
| Lab | Instrument, Sensor, Safety equipment |
| Start blank | None. Create your own types in Asset types. |
Each type comes with fields that suit it, for example CPU, memory and storage for laptops. You can rename, add or remove fields later.
Select Import a CSV instead to skip the templates and go straight to the import wizard.
Step 2: Sample data
Turn on Load sample data (12 assets) to explore AssetPilot with example records before you add your own.
Sample assets are ordinary records. Delete them from the Assets list with a bulk delete when you are ready.
Step 3: Create the workspace
Select Create workspace. AssetPilot creates the configuration, then opens the Assets list with the message Workspace ready — N assets created.
After setup
- Review the lifecycle so statuses match how your team works.
- Set the tag prefix, currency and warranty threshold in Settings → General.
- Map Jira groups to roles in Settings → Access.
- Import your existing records, or create assets one by one.
- Open any Jira issue to see the Assets panel.
To run setup again, open Settings → About and select Restart onboarding.
