AssetPilot settings and access

Admin → Settings has three tabs: General, Access and About. Only AssetPilot admins can open Settings.

General

Next tag will be AP-00256.
SettingEffect
Tag prefix2–5 letters, for example AP. Asset types can override it. Changing it doesn't rename existing assets.
Next numberIncrements on every create and import
Number lengthZero-padding, for example 5 digits gives AP-00256
Default currencyPreselected on the asset form. The dashboard sums each currency separately.
Warranty alert daysAssets whose warranty ends within this window appear in Alerts and on the dashboard

Tags are unique across the site. The form pre-fills the next tag, and you can type your own as long as it is unused. Imports keep the tags in the file and fill in missing ones.

Access

Map Jira groups to AssetPilot roles.
Roles come from Jira groups and are checked on the server for every request.
FieldNotes
Admin groupsAdmins manage types, the lifecycle and settings. jira-administrators is always included and can't be removed.
Manager groupsManagers create, edit, check out and import assets but can't change configuration.
Who can view assetsEveryone on this Jira site, or Specific groups

Permissions are enforced on the server. Hiding a button is never the only guard, so the same rules apply to the issue panel and to imports. See Permissions for the full role table.

About

Version, useful links and Restart onboarding.

The About tab shows the installed version and links to documentation, support, privacy, terms and the changelog. Restart onboarding runs the setup again.

No access

People without the Admin role who open Settings by URL see a clear message instead of an error.

A viewer opening Settings. The left rail hides Import and the Admin section.

To get access, ask a Jira administrator to add you to an admin group in Settings → Access.
